Route 1

Route 1

Since March of 2009, one of three CPC teams have been providing and serving breakfast on the first Saturday of the month at the Route 1 Day Center.  Each team has a team leader and other volunteers to provide food and/or serve it to those who come to the center.  Each first Saturday, about 5 or 6 volunteers are needed to serve the meal, greet those who come, organize food and other donations, and simply mingle and converse.  The ministry leader is Rachel Schaefer, and the other team leaders are Sandy and Lorna Sharp and Jim Wilmot.

In the CPC lobby is a designated bin for contributions to the Route 1 ministry. If you would like to help out with a donation, please read the following guidelines.

Guidelines for Winter Clothing Donations

  1. No sweaters. They are extremely difficult to launder and dry, and very few of our clients take them.
  2. Check the labels. If the item needs to be dry cleaned, then it shouldn’t come to the Center.
  3. The average size for men’s pants is 36 waist; women is a 12.
  4. Outerwear should not be wool, fur, leather, or full length. The best type of coat will be similar to a ski jacket, the longest length being to mid-thigh.
