Summer VBS

Summer VBS

Dear CPC Family,

After much prayer, consideration, and even polling parents of elementary-aged children at our church regarding interest in a virtual VBS, Vicki Vandenheuvel, who is our Children’s Ministry Director, and I, with the approval of Bill Scianella, our Elder in charge of the Session’s local missions team which oversees our VBS ministry, have made the very difficult decision to cancel Vacation Bible School for this summer. We realized that switching gears to a virtual VBS would be very tricky, making it difficult to assure the level of excellence we would want in representing Jesus and His Word rightly, especially to new families through our connection with Running Brook Elementary School. We were also not able to garner enough interest from CPC families regarding participating in a virtual VBS. Certainly, many families with elementary-aged students are still reeling from all the work of becoming automatic homeschoolers and are eager to have time off from “programs” at home. I don’t blame them! Thankfully, Vicki continues to work hard to regularly provide “virtual” lessons and activities that support parents’ efforts to teach their children about Christ at home. And families can complete these activities at their leisure.

Our commitment to offering a Christ-centered, God-honoring, and Gospel-sharing VBS at CPC in the future remains strong! A good rest this summer should refresh and renew us for Vacation Bible School 2021, and I am already looking forward to it. I hope that many of you will look forward to attending or serving on our 2021 VBS Staff with me.

Enjoy your true summer rest, and please stay healthy and well.

His servant and yours,

Pamela Fahs
