Diane’s Bio:

I became a Christian through Young Life when I was in high school. While attending UMBC I was a volunteer leader with Young Life in Howard County. After serving on YL staff for 23 years in NJ, SC and OH, I returned home to serve as the Area Director for YL in Howard County. In 2019 began a new position with YL as the Regional Coordinator for Capernaum.

Capernaum is Young Life’s ministry to students with disabilities. In YL we hope that every student is welcomed to be at our club meetings, small group bible studies and summer camp. In my new role I travel in MD and DE to encourage and grow our Capernaum ministries. I help train volunteer leaders and work with local YL staff and adults to begin new Capernaum clubs. Our goal is to have a Capernaum club wherever we have a traditional YL club. In 2022 two new clubs were started and 3 other communities are in the process of recruiting adults, parents and volunteer leaders for a new Capernaum ministry. I am also a part of the Howard County Capernaum leader team.

In one of my favorite parables (Luke 14) Jesus shares about the Great Banquet. “Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and crippled and blind and lame.” Capernaum’s vision is that all students, regardless of any disability, would be welcome at the Table. I am grateful to be a member of CPC and thankful for your help and support as we invite more students to the table!
