New Director of Youth and Family Ministry

New Director of Youth and Family Ministry

Dear CPC Family,

It is with great excitement that I introduce you to Rob Gicking, our new Director Of Youth and Family Ministries.

Many thanks to members of the search team: Mara Johnson, Katie Shilling, Vicki Vandeheuvel, Jeffrey Spranza, Dick Stum, and Bill Sciannella. On behalf of this team, I am happy to share that the committee unanimously recommended Rob to the Session after a series of three interviews. The Session also met and interviewed Rob. They unanimously voted to hire Rob for this position and encourage his ministry at CPC.

Here is a little bit of information about Rob and his wife Kate and their son Brad.

Rob Gicking has spent the past 10 years working in both student and young adult ministry at churches of various sizes in the D.C. – Baltimore area and is thrilled to be joining Columbia PCA. He and his wife Kate met while working at a Christian summer camp on the Chesapeake Bay and they have been married for 6 years. They have a 1.5-year-old son named Brad whom they love very much, and are very excited for all the free babysitting that comes out of doing youth ministry…(just kidding!)

In his free time, Rob enjoys playing ice hockey and golf, eating buffalo wings, and admiring cars. Rob graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Communication and is currently working on his M.Div. from Metro Baltimore Seminary with an expected graduation date of December 2021. He is blessed to be part of a Christian leadership cohort called The Timothy Foundation and is a certified Financial Coach with Ramsey Solutions. Rob has a heart for discipleship and is excited for the opportunity to come alongside the students and families of CPC as they walk through this crazy thing called “life” together.

Come Meet Rob – Sunday, Sept 27

Rob will join us this Sunday during the Community Life portion of worship for both services. Also students and families are invited to a brief meet-n-greet after the 11am service. This will be on the patio behind the Potter’s House. Another opportunity via Zoom will be available at a later date for any who are not able to join us for this in-person meeting (TBD).

We are excited to have Rob join us. He will begin on October 1. Thank you for your prayers and support. Despite the pandemic, God is on the move at CPC!
