Sunday School
Sunday School Classes for Children
The pre-school and elementary school classes are organized by grade, and the Middle School and High School youth are grouped as two separate classes. The Sunday School class teachers are all members of Columbia Presbyterian church. We use Sunday School class materials provided by Great Commission Publishers , a Publishing ministry of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Church of America, and also by Children Desiring God , a ministry of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minnesota.

Adult Education Class Schedule
Adult Education Classes meet on Sundays at 9:00 a.m.
The elders have planned Sunday morning classes for adults (including high school students) in the areas of Bible books and theology, discipleship, Bible and gospel application, apologetics and evangelism, and age group interests. We pray these classes will equip the saints for ministry, and that we may grow in a deeper knowledge of, and devotion toward, our Lord Jesus and our faith in him so we can continue in our quest to make him known. The classes for this fall are:
- High school class: What is Reformed Theology? (MC-118/120)
- Gospel of Mark (MC-109)
- Living by Faith in Future Grace (MC-100)
- Couples’ Class: Growing Together as a Couple in Christ (MC-103)
- Why We Believe, Why We Doubt (MC-105)
Here is a short description of each class. You are welcome to contact the teachers listed if you desire more details.
High School class We'll be studying "What is Reformed Theology?" (Dan Halley )
Gospel of Mark The gospel of Mark is a unique gospel in many ways. Although it is the shortest gospel book, it is chockfull of hard-hitting, high-impact gospel truths. Come join us to uncover these truths and see how the gospel of Mark should shape our lives as disciples of Jesus. This discussion oriented class will go through the gospel of Mark sequentially and focus on Jesus our King and Lord and our call to be His disciples. Come get a fresh perspective of this awesome book and maybe learn a few things you never knew. (Bill Sciannella and Jim Wilmot )
Living by Faith in Future Grace What motivates a faithful and productive Christian lifestyle? For many years I tried to live solely out of gratitude for what Christ did for me, His past grace. Yet nowhere in Scripture does God say, “Be thankful and obey.” What he says is “Trust and obey.” Gratitude has its place, but as we look to the promises of God, His grace yet to come to us, future grace, and as we trust in and depend on Him through those promises, great things begin to happen. We are freed to live out faith courageously and to love others boldly. The root of sin is severed by greater satisfaction in Him. God is magnified and glorified, and we begin to experience His joy in new ways. That is what John Piper lays out in his book, Future Grace. We will wrestle together with these concepts and how to apply them to practical life issues like anxiety, lust, bitterness, materialism, etc. (Dick Stum and Randy Lovelace )
Couples Class: Growing Together as a Couple in Christ This class is to encourage those who are serious about growing together as a couple in their relationship with Christ and in doing so to target and raise up the next generation of leaders for CPC. This class will draw from published materials (This Momentary Marriage (Piper), Sacred Marriage (Gary Thomas), and Growing Together as a Couple in Christ (Dennis & Barb Rainey)) and will be led by the Chandlers with invited guests for 1-2 week periods throughout the semester to co-lead for specific topics (e.g., elder & wife, pastor & wife, etc.). (David and Gina Chandler, Tim and Dana Flora)
Why We Believe, Why We Doubt The purpose of this class is to examine what reasons convince us to believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and savior of our eternal lives, and just as openly to address reasons that make us doubt Christ’s or the Bible’s claims, in order to strengthen our resolve to follow Christ, increase our affections for him, and to answer questions from unbelievers. We aim to provide clear evidence from the Bible, philosophy, the sciences, everyday life, world religions, and other sources, for why belief in Christ and his claims makes good sense, and to openly address doubts and the role doubts can have in spiritual transformation. In addition to adults, we invite college and young career-age youths and even high school juniors and seniors to come. Come and think about why you believe and learn how to explain that confidently to others! Also, you may follow us through the week with post-class summaries and on-going comment at our blog, http://beliefanddoubts.wordpress.com. (Jaime Cruz and Michael Dransfield)
