About Us
We are a congregation in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church . We fully believe the great truths of the Reformation, set down in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms .
- We believe that the Bible is without error.
- We believe that the infinite-personal God revealed in its pages made us all, that we rebelled against His authority and are all dead in sin and deserving of His just judgment.
- We believe that the only hope of deliverance from that judgment is faith in the substitutionary death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Through this faith God gives us Christ's own record of living, as well as wiping clean our miserable record. We are free and forgiven, adopted as His own children to live new lives by the power of His Spirit.
Our Purpose A purpose statement for an organization is basic to its reason for being, and generally does not change. CPC's purpose since 1978 has been, based on Ephesians 1:17-23 :
- To know Him: The one true living God in a personal and increasingly intimate way.
- To know our hope: Our new identity in Christ, with the sure hope of heaven ahead.
- To know His power: The power of Christ's resurrection available by faith to us on a daily basis.
Our Vision Vision is seeing with the eyes of faith beyond the horizon of experience. Our vision is to have a passion for God in Jesus Christ demonstrated in our worship, our love for one another, and our compassion for His world, fueled by the Gospel, and fired by the Holy Spirit. Read our 2003 vision statement which explains what this means in practical terms.
Philosophy of Discipleship The Christian life is so much more than making sure that I have a relationship with God that guarantees my future after death. God loves us too much to save us for heaven only to leave us alone until we get there. This is at the heart of our philosophy of discipleship. Paul saw his ministry included helping believers to become "complete in Christ" (Colossians 1:28). This is essential to the church's ministry today as well. In light of this, we offer many opportunities to grow spiritually at CPC. We hope you will make use of them.
Diagnostic Statement of Faith It is important to know what you believe! Our diagnostic statement of faith contains questions that cover issues at the core of our relationship with Jesus. As you consider the questions look over the passages listed with the question to review what the Bible says, but please answer on the basis of what you believe. We hope this is a helpful diagnostic tool for you to use in order to concretely know what you believe about your relationship with Jesus.
We invite you to contact any of our pastoral staff to help you work through the questions and be satisfied that you are in a right relationship with the God who made you and before whom you will stand on the Last Day.
